This community garden has been designed and created to provide both visitors and
residents an opportunity to experience the joy of growing flowers, a space to totally
immerse in nature whilst taking time to enjoy different flower creations and all that is
flourishing alongside our wildlife.
It is a space where all generations can learn how to build a colourful garden from seed.
In recent years pollinators have greatly decreased. The aim of this garden is to encourage
pollinators through the growing of flowers by the community of Great Dunmow.
This is an area for everyone to enjoy encouraging visitors and residents to give growing a go,showcasing the flourishing plant varieties that you can be grown from seed.
Designed by Cara Thompson founder of ‘Make it Flourish’, the garden is the forever home of the ‘BBC Gardeners World Autumn’ garden designed by Cara which was awarded GOLD
and the ‘People’s Choice’ award. This garden was constructed and planted in spring 2024 during the 60th anniversary of ‘Britain in Bloom’ by the ‘Make it Flourish Together’ meet up group, Great Dunmow Town council and residents of Great Dunmow.
‘Make it Flourish©’ sow alongs are sponsored by Mr Fothergill’s and SylvaGrow who are also sponsors of this garden. We are grateful to all sponsors of this garden Mr Fothergills, Sylvagrow, Melcourt, David Austin Roses & Core Landscapes and for the support given by the RHS Communities team.
